I read an exciting book at the dentist’s waiting room. A hen laid one egg, then two, then there were three. Then, there was a fox. The hen hit the fox. One time, two times, three times! (The illustrations were very violent.) Then a little chick came out of an egg. Then a second and finally a third chick appeared. In an unexpected twist, the book went on to show a bed. And another one, and a third bed which was occupied by a severely injured fox. It was a hospital bed and the hen and all three little chicks were visiting. After being discharged from hospital, the fox knocked four times on the door of the hen house and then - the grand finale - hen, little chicks, and fox became five friends.

UPDATE:
I found some additional information. The title is Een kip telt (A Chicken Counts). The book was written and illustrated by Leendert Jan Vis, and published by Lemniscaat in 2005. Language: Dutch. 26 pages. Available online at bol.com.
